Why Our Founder’s Story Matters

In November of 2004, our founder and CEO, Greg Minow, became a complete paraplegic as a result of spinal injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. Over the past 5 years, Greg and his wife, Alicia, decided that they would like to have children. While both Greg and Alicia were otherwise fertile – infertility treatments would make little difference, in other words – Greg’s disability presented a challenge. At this point in time, they began seeking out at-home insemination options. However the syringes on the market at the time had sharp edges, were uncomfortable to use, and really took the joy out of the moment – and that’s where the Life Choice syringe was born!
Why This Matters For You
Hope. It may sound silly, but it’s what gets us through the worst. Through injury and paralysis, hope that through some combination of determination and ‘infertility treatment’ (which ended up being unnecessary in Greg and Alicia’s case), they might have the children they had always dreamed of. We’d like nothing more than for their story and the availability of the Life Choice syringe to inspire the hope you should have about your chances for conception.
Cost. Life Choice is an affordable alternative to infertility treatment. Before spending thousands of dollars on in vitro fertilization or infertility treatments, try self insemination! Difficulties in conception are both physically and emotionally draining – we wouldn’t recommend adding the financial stress of a drained bank account for infertility treatment unless absolutely necessary. It might seem obvious, but you should take careful note – if either you or your partner are infertile, you should speak with your doctor regarding what infertility treatment or treatments might be best for you.
Choice. Before the Life Choice syringe, you had to face down the lesser of two evils, to be blunt: costly infertility treatment / in vitro fertilization or painful, mechanical self insemination. Infertility treatments put your life under the microscope – your health and circumstances need to be out in the open for the doctors to do their work. Now, that’s not to say that infertility treatment might not be called for in some cases – we firmly believe you should explore alternatives first. The Life Choice syringe brings comfort, privacy, and efficiency to what could otherwise be a trying process for you and your partner. So basically, it’s an alternative – an alternative that preserves the joy and special nature of conceiving in comfort and the privacy of your own home.
Basically, it matters because we’ve been where you’re going – we believe that leveraging our experience on your behalf, spreading the word, is important. It matters because we’ve taken a situation that feels hopeless and made it less so.
